I’ve never done this before, but on May 14, I’m hosting a live, public Town Hall. For the first time, I’m pulling back the curtain to openly share a behind-the-scenes look at a business I’ve been privately flipping for the last 6 months.

“Flipping a business” isn’t a term I hear about much in the online business world, but I’ve had the benefit of learning about and observing through seeing “behind the scenes” via my legal work.

I started 2 of my companies; my law firm, and the Creative Law Shop®, 7 years ago. Frankly, for the last 4 years, I’ve been discontent with the business model of the latter, on a deep level.

The world changed after the pandemic, obviously. More specifically: business has changed; the way we do business, and our clients have changed. The unpopular opinion: that business model doesn’t serve business owners as effectively as it once did. In this new era, the scales of justice shifted against entrepreneurs. There’s a widening gap between the increasing legal needs that come with clients who are more willing to negotiate, etc, but that didn’t make legal support more accessible. A tool is only as effective as you are capable of utilizing it, and the “one size fits all” model isn’t as effective as it once was.

3 years ago, I knew a change was coming.

Two years ago, I began challenging my own preconceived notions of a business model I was comfortable with.

Last year, I reached the point where I realized I was more willing to risk it all to figure out exactly why I was feeling this discontent, than live with the ghosts of “what if”. If I wanted radically different results, I had to do something radically different to bring them to fruition.

This year, I pulled the trigger, stripped that company down to the studs, and flipped it into an entirely new business model. One that I don’t see on the market yet. One that I have no competitor analysis for, or any sort of roadmap for. So this winter, I hunkered down and figured it out myself.

There likely won’t be many opportunities to build something this novel, and sharing the behind the scenes of entrepreneurship isn’t something I just want to talk about-I want my actions to align. So, before I launch this new company, I want to pull back the curtain and show you the gritty, “boots on the ground” vantage point of a startup.

The live call on the 14th isn’t a webinar with a hidden pitch- to be honest, I’ve been working around the literal clock on this new business, and to maximize time and share the lessons, I want to host a public conversation. Business is changing, a New Era is here, and I’ll continue to write about that concept. However, there are only so many chances to bring you along, using my own self as a case study. You can join the conversation here.
